Lead Pastor: Mike Windley

Mike grew up in Raleigh, NC.  He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina, Greensboro (B.A. degree), and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div degree). He has over 17 years of ministry experience, ranging from minister of youth, discipleship minister, overseas missionary to Mtwara, Tanzania, and now as lead pastor of The Bridge.  Mike's calling for church planting first came in seminary, where he realized that starting new churches is the most effective tool in connecting people back to God.  His passion and vision are now culminating in the start of The Bridge! He and his wife, Courtney, have a son named Jackson and a brand new daughter named Hannah.

Here's an interview we did to give you a little more information about Mike...

So what exactly do you do at the Bridge?
Being pastor is my full-time job.  My heart as pastor is two-fold: 1) I want to connect people with God and 2) I love to mentor men. There are a lot of people in our world who are hurting, hopeless and in need of healing.  Many of them have been hurt by past church experiences and have huge barriers to faith.  I hope I can be a part of helping them reconnect with a loving God who values them so much.   I also have that heart to mentor men.  Too often our men have been overlooked in our churches and have lost touch with leading out spiritually at church and in their home.  I'd like to think I can help some reconnect with God and begin developing a faith life like they would have never imagined.

Tell us something unusual about yourself.

  • I’ve had malaria (still do since it never goes away)
  • I have been paralyzed and almost died from a neurological disorder
  • I've lived in Tanzania for a year and a half (which explains one of the above!)

What is your favorite....

Foods?
Steak, popcorn, hot wings, macaroni and cheese

Sports teams?
St. Louis Cardinals, UNC (and anybody but Duke!), Dallas Cowboys, Very Little Interest in the NBA

What's on your ipod?
If I had one...it would be David Crowder Band, Third Day and Johnny Cash!

TV shows?
24, Biggest Loser, Survivor Man, Andy Griffeth, WSOP

Bible Verse?
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
